TGIF! (3)

Feature & Follow Friday #34

And this week's question is...

If you are a fan of Science Fiction what is your favorite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...any inkling to? Anything catch your eye?

Honestly, I've never been interested in Science Fiction. I never really read anything other than nonfiction, mostly American and European history, psychology, and sociology books, before now. But a friend of mine turned me on to Paranormal/Fantasy books. If anyone has any suggestions, I might try reading Science Fiction :)

Book Blogger Hop

This week's question:

"What book(s) would you like to see turned into a movie?"
This is a difficult question for me to answer because I only recently started reading again, and I've only read a few shifter series over the past few months. So I guess I'll answer this question a bit differently. I recently saw Beastly on the YA table at Barns and Noble and wasn't sure if I would like it or not, but then I saw the movie trailer, so I'm definitely going to read the book. Anyone have any reviews of the book?

Hi Mandy! This is Evie from Paromantasy. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I can't believe this is a new blog - this site rocks!

I also cannot wait for the last Mercy Thompson book! Who's your favorite character?
I have to read the shifters series. Thanks for the suggestion. If you love those, then you'll love books by HP Mallory, Richelle Mead, and Stacey Kennedy (I'll be reviewing her books in the next week!) Have a great weekend!

Thanks Evie! I don't know who my favorite character is in the Mercy Thompson books??? I love Mercy-she's so stubborn, not willing to compromise her beliefs for anyone. I love Adam too-what a hotttt Alpha! (sorry, can't help myself)Warren is great too-I can't get the picture of a gay, cowboy, dominant werewolf out of my head, lol. Briggs is so creative!

I'm definitely going to check out the authors you suggested. I'm a little overwhelmed with managing my TBR list, but I'll figure it out somehow.

Since you haven't read Rachel Vincent's Shifters series yet, check out the March Shifters Challenge hosted by The Life of a Bookaholic. It would be a great reason to start reading the series. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Jannette! I've been working on it for an entire week-still have a few kinks to iron out, but I'm almost there.

Hopping through. Until recent years, I was a big non-fiction reader. Now I read mostly YA and paranormal. I love American history books. What do you recommend for European history?

Alison - The Mind Has No Sex? Women in the Origins of Modern Science by Londa Schiebinger is one of my favorites :) I'm from Louisiana, and I love reading about the history of New Orleans - the cultural history of the city is amazing! I found New Orleans as it Was by Henry C. Castellanos on a bargain bookshelf and absolutely fell in love with it. It's a collection of stories about personal experiences and inherited traditions during the Antebellum period. If you like American history, you will really enjoy this book. I'm a big fan of William Faulkner too - most of his stories are set in the south. As I Lay Dying by Faulkner is my all time favorite book. It's a difficult read, but it's absolutely amazing.

Hopping through for the weekend. Great color palate here - love the teal and purple-pink =D

I'm not a huge reader of SciFi either, but I have found a few novels I've adored. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is a good starter book, I think. I first read it in high school and have gotten new insights every time I've read it. Or if you're in for a more humorous read, Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Series is pretty great. It took me a little effort to get past the first chapter but once I got the British accent narrating it, it flowed a lot easier. If you'd like, you can check out my reviews of the books.

If you feel like hopping my way, come venture into The Wolf's Den. Have a great weekend!

I just hopped over here via Suey's blog. I love reading fantasy, and historical fiction. I am just starting to dip into sci-fi. Short stories may be the way to go with sci-fi. I have started reading HER SMOKE ROSE UP FOREVER by James Tiptree, Jr. So far, I am enjoying these short stories, and I am not a short story reader.

I see Vicki recommended Ender's Game. Another fantastic book by Orson Scott Card that you may enjoy is... Enchantment. A re-telling of a fairy tale. I really liked this one.

Vicki-thanks for the suggestions. I believe I read something by Orson Scott Card in college, but I just can't remember the title??? Going to take a look at your blog in just a few. Had a bad day yesterday and didn't get around to checking it out. Thanks for stopping by!

Ibeeg-sorry, wish I could address you with a name, lol. Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to take a look at the synopses and update my TBR list, sooner than later hopefully. Thanks again!

Mandy-

Beastly is in my TBR pile it just keeps getting bumped! I have read a few of the redone fairy tale books and some are really incredible and others are eh... If you find any reviews of beastly let me know....

Will do. Like I said, I picked up the book, read the synopsis, and ALMOST bought it, but I figured I'd read Bitten, and Shiver first since I've been wanting to get started on those series. But when I saw the movie trailer, it looked like an awesome plot. I'm going to look for some reviews, but if I can't find anything, I'll just read it anyway.
