Review of Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs
Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Here's the Amazon description:
A demon-riding vampire has gone on a killing spree unlike any the Tri- Cities has ever seen-and the undead and werewolves sent to stop him haven't returned. A coyote is no match for a demon, but shapeshifting mechanic Mercy Thompson is immune to many vampiric powers-and those are her friends who are missing, including the two werewolves circling around her heart. Game on...
I wasn't all that impressed with Moon Called , the first book in the Mercy Thompson series, but after reading only a few pages of this book, I was totally hooked. This book was full of possessive werewolves, frightening vampires, fae of all sorts, and even a demon-ridden vampire created by one of the local seethe's own members. This was an extremely suspenseful read-Briggs has a way of making things jump at you when you least expect it.
I began to like Mercy's character much more after starting this book. Her character is developed much more as she finds out more about her past as well as her own powers, which she begins to recognize as weapons rather than curses. Although the werewolves, vampires, and fae are much stronger than she, she develops a strength of her own-a strenght that only a walker can possess. Her stubbornness and refusal to conform to werewolf political structure makes her a true rebel who is willing to do anything for justice in the complex world she is surrounded by.
I just loved this book. If you are a paranormal romance lover, this series is a must read!
